Health and Healing from the Garden
Time: 12:00 p.m. EST
We hope that you can join us on Thursday, October 21st at 12p.m. EST when Monica Giacomin will share a variety of nutritious recipes using local wild food (often identified as weeds!) likely growing in your garden, and learn how to reap the physical and psychological benefits of gardening that may also enhance your endocannabinoid system. Learn how simple it is to prepare your own preventative medicine and tonics in order to nourish your microbiome, manage your stressors, and bump up your immune system.
About Our Speaker
Monica Giacomin is an educator, herbalist, perennial student and meadow-keeper. Monica has crafted and cultivated “HERBS on the Side”, an Educational Botanical Sanctuary, recipient of the 2018 Award for Bio-Diversity and home to over fifty medicinal plants. For the past three decades, Monica has taught the curious how to identify, nurture, harvest and transform plants into food and medicine.
She has studied extensively at the Wise Woman Centre with Susun Weed (1990-2021), completed the Advanced Herbal Training at Sage Mountain (2006), apprenticed at Alba Nueve in Costa Rica with Ed Bernhardt (2010), and graduated from the Community Herbalist Program at the Bellebuono School of Herbal Medicine (2018). She has enjoyed sharing the "Wonder of Weeds" at the very opportunity, including the International Herb Symposium (2021, 2017), Women's Herb Conference (2010), and has lectured for a variety of groups and institutions in the Montreal area.
Her mission is to share the pleasure and benefits of medicinal and edible herbs as a path to optimal wellness for all of us, for the pollinators and especially for our generous Mother Earth!
