The Montreal Council of Women is proud to announce that Indra Kubicek has been selected as the 2026 Woman of the Year.
Each year, MCW confers this honour on a woman whose work represents an exceptional contribution to a designated field, as chosen by the Executive of the Council. In addition to excellence in her field, the recipient is recognized for her meaningful contributions to the community and for serving as a role model and source of inspiration to others.
At a time when artificial intelligence is evolving rapidly and reshaping how we learn, work, and live, MCW is especially pleased to recognize a leader whose work speaks directly to this moment. Indra Kubicek’s contributions to AI literacy, STEM education, youth engagement, and responsible digital citizenship reflect thoughtful, forward-looking leadership with real impact.
Through her commitment to expanding digital skills and coding education for youth, promoting online safety, equity, and inclusion, and encouraging young people to use technology in service of social and environmental challenges, Indra Kubicek has demonstrated the kind of leadership that is both timely and enduring. Her work exemplifies the vision, responsibility, and community impact that make her a most deserving recipient of this honour.

About Our Woty 2026 Recipient
Indra Kubicek, CEO of Digital Moment
Indra is the CEO of Digital Moment, an award-winning Canadian charity focused on digital skills education for youth, particularly those from underrepresented groups. Under her leadership, Digital Moment has reached over 1 million young people and 35,000 educators. Her vision to ensure equal access to AI literacy across the country has led to the creation of the first national K-12 AI literacy framework for Canada, focused on a systems approach.
Indra champions a more inclusive digital world, believing that diverse voices are crucial for shaping the future of technology. She advocates for empowering the next generation with digital skills to address global and local challenges and for including youth in discussions about the ethical use of AI. Most recently, she designed an AI Learning Lab program that brings together intergenerational collaboration and skills-building opportunities.
A frequent speaker on AIl literacy and youth empowerment, Indra also serves on the boards of Québec Tech and was previously an advisor on Mila’s (Montreal Institute of Algorithms) Startup Committee that focused on supporting AI student entrepreneurs.
Prior to moving to Montreal to build Digital Moment, Indra spent 10 years in the UK. She lled an international program at the Raspberry Pi Foundation, forging global partnerships to bridge the digital divide. Her personal experience as a young woman entrepreneur in tech, facing significant barriers, ignited her passion for advocating systemic changes in digital literacy, especially for women and underrepresented groups. This journey solidified her dedication to ensuring every young person has the opportunity to pursue their dreams.
In 2025, she spoke at the UN High-Level Political Forum in New York on the importance of AI literacy for youth and spoke of the need to consider AI education a human right and she launched Canada’s first national AI Council for the Future Workforce, bringing together leaders in AI from across the country.
Indra is a Canadian Chartered Accountant, holds a Bachelor of Business Administration, a Master's in Professional Accounting, and a Master's in Public Policy & Management. She also completed certifications in Social Entrepreneurship from INSEAD and Impact Management & Measurement from Oxford.
