Petition Mailed-in Ballots for November 2021 Montreal Municipal Elections

Published on June 03, 2021

In 2020, Montreal Council members were encouraged to sign and support a petition calling for mail-in ballots for the 2021 municipal elections this November. While the petition with the National Assembly received much support, the decision was left to individual municipalities to decide.

Unlike Quebec City, Sherbrooke, Laval, Longueuil, Dorval, Hampstead and Sainte-Thérèse, the City of Montreal refused to provide mail-in ballots for the upcoming municipal elections.

In our Covid era, this represents undue hardships, particularly for the elderly, who will now be forced to travel and gather in schools, church basements or centres to exercise their right to vote. We invite you to consider signing another critical petition addressing this very issue that has been put forward by Ensemble Montreal.

The petition calls for the City of Montreal to provide mailed-in ballots for the November 2021 municipal elections to citizens who are 70+ years of age.

TO SIGN THE PETITION
