Sign the Petition: Federal Party Leaders to Get Top-secret Security Clearance
Published on February 16, 2026
There is a worthwhile House of Commons petition that all Canadians should sign. It involves obliging all political leaders in Canada to obtain a Security Clearance. The Security Clearance provisions were enhanced under Stephen Harper's regime. For the past fifty years, all parliamentarians and their leader obtained their Security Clearance. Once a Security Clearance is obtained, it must also be maintained - it's not just a one-off. There is one political leader who refuses to obtain their Security Clearance: the leader of the Conservative Party, Pierre Poilievre. He asserts he does not want to obtain a Security Clearance because he would then be denied his freedom to criticize the government. Rather, he does not want to accept the consequences of abusing his freedoms. Freedom has its guardrails. The Canadian Charter of Human Rights and Freedoms does not make our freedoms absolute, no matter what. Foreign entities (Musk, Epstein, Trump, Putin, etc.) have meddled in both government policy and elections in Great Britain, France, Germany, Australia, South Africa and Canada. Foreign entities campaign against policies to stop the trafficking of children, the reproductive rights of women, gun controls, transgender rights, climate change, etc.
A Security Clearance is one of the critical measures to track interference by foreign entities meddling in our democracy. It provides a means to track hidden foreign funding to political causes. Examples include: Foreign funding for Alberta's separatist movement, the Truck Convoy stampedes, Party leadership races, social media manipulations, and foreign campaigns to stop equity identity policies in Canada. You are encouraged to sign the new House of Commons petition below. Please consider spreading the petition among your social networks.
